An Evening at Pere Lachaise

Celebrating the creative legends, and martyrs, interred in Paris' famous cemetery, the evening was performed twice, both times in church buildings.

Featuring the writing of, amongst others, Proust, Colette, Balzac, Oscar Wilde, and Gertrude Stein, the performance was enhanced by the music and vocals of Bow and Bellows, (Martina Schwarz and Sally Davies). Accordion, violin and euphonium provided an evocative accompaniment to the songs of Edith Piaf, Gilbert Becaud, and Jim Morrison.

Daniel Dresner and Rebecca Steele were again our readers.

First performance at St George's Church Hall in Bloomsbury in September 2011. Second performance at St Ethelburga's, one of the city's oldest churches and now a peace centre, in Bishopsgate in February 2012.
